At Soluma we’ve designed this training for space holders who want to create safe, contained, and truly supportive environments: where the body’s wisdom is honoured, trauma is recognised, and support is skillfully offered when needed.

You don’t need to be a therapist to do this well.

But if you are working with the body, you do need to understand how trauma lives there and how to meet it with attuned, ethical, and embodied care.

Beyond Trauma informed into Trauma Trained Somatic Facilitation.

As somatics and body-based modalities become more popular, this means the spaces we hold continue to deepen. Whether through yoga, breathwork, movement, or other embodied practices, we are no longer just guiding people through poses, rhythms, or breath. We are guiding them into the depths of their bodies, nervous systems, and personal histories

It is no longer enough to say, “This space isn’t therapy”.

Even if we don’t label these practices as therapy, they often act as powerful gateways into the body, supporting connection and release of stored emotions, unresolved stress, and trauma held in the body - whether we intend it or not. And when that happens, we must have the skills to respond safely, ethically, and supportively.

Too many facilitators are unknowingly guiding people into vulnerable territory without the skills to hold what arises, which can lead to re-traumatisation, shutdown, or rupture in the space.

This training was created to change that.

Learn to hold space for healing with clarity, confidence, and deep somatic understanding.

Whether you're a coach, facilitator, yoga teacher, bodyworker, therapist, or healer, this 8-week training will give you the tools, frameworks, and embodiment practices to support clients with trauma-led sensitivity in any somatic setting.

Why This Training Matters:

We can no longer ignore the role of the body in trauma or our responsibility as space holders to understand it. When we work with the body, we are working with the very place where trauma is held. As somatic facilitators of any kind, to guide others safely and ethically, we must understand how trauma lives in the body and how to meet it with skill and care.

This training bridges the gap between theory and practice, helping you grow your trauma and nervous system literacy, develop trauma-led facilitation skills, and understand how to support connection, release and regulation without needing to be a therapist.

This program is for facilitators who:

  • Feel uncertain/unaware about trauma: Feeling unprepared when a client/student has a trauma response in their space, not knowing what trauma presentations look like, therefore unsure how to respond.

  • Over-reliant on intuition: Leaning on intuition or general holding skills, but sensing there are deeper layers they’re not trained to meet.

  • Fear of “getting it wrong”: Worrying they might re-trigger or shut someone down by using language, touch, or practices without trauma awareness.

  • Carrying overwhelm: Holding groups or clients feels heavy, draining, and sometimes overwhelming because they’re unknowingly holding nervous systems beyond their capacity.

  • Surface-level facilitation: Realising that their classes/sessions support relaxation but don’t always create the depth of transformation they know is possible.

  • Fragmented learning: Picking up bits of somatics, trauma theory, or nervous system knowledge, but lacking a grounded framework that ties it all together.

  • Imposter feelings: Questioning whether they’re “qualified enough” to be guiding people through body-based practices.

At the end of the 8 weeks, you’ll gain:

  • Recognise the signs of unresolved trauma in clients and know how to respond safely.

  • Understand nervous system states and work with them effectively in real-time.

  • Co-regulate with clients and pace sessions to avoid overwhelm and support safety.

  • Respond skillfully to dissociation, emotional activation, and resistance.

  • Adapt your language, touch, and facilitation structure for trauma sensitivity.

  • Know your scope of practice and when it’s appropriate to refer out.

  • Hold space that honours autonomy, dignity, and the body’s innate wisdom.

  • Create sessions that move beyond surface-level relaxation into deeper transformation.

  • Feel confident, grounded, and resourced in your role as a facilitator.

  • Expand your capacity to hold groups and 1:1 sessions without feeling drained.

  • Bridge intuition with a clear trauma-aware framework, so you feel both embodied and informed.

What we cover over the 8 weeks:

Week 1 – Foundations: Understand what trauma really is (psychological + somatic), how it shows up in the body, and why it matters in somatic spaces.

Week 2 – The Nervous System in Practice: Learn polyvagal theory, somatic presentations of trauma and how to work with that. Learn about the female nervous system, childhood attachment, chronic dysregulation, and how trauma impacts connection and vitality.

Week 3 – Somatic Maps: Develop embodied literacy by tracking interoception, micro-movements, and the subtle shifts that reveal a client’s state.

Week 4 – Core Skills for Trauma-Sensitive Facilitation: Gain essential tools for grounding, orienting, co-regulating, pacing, capacity, resilience and avoiding re-traumatisation.

Week 5 – Holding Space in 1:1 & Groups: Understand group dynamics, screening, informed consent, and ethical space holding for both individuals and groups.

Week 6 – Deepen Your Somatic Skillset: Explore trauma-informed touch, the stress-trauma continuum, parts work, healthy shame, embodiment principles, and pacing emotional release.

Week 7 – Scope, Ethics & Referral: Learn when to refer out, how to manage disclosures, and care for your own nervous system as a facilitator.

Week 8 – Integration & Embodied Practice: Consolidate your learning, share reflections, and prepare for real-world trauma-aware facilitation.

Each week will include things that challenge your skillset and op

Meet the women behind Soluma:

At Soluma, we bring together the expertise of Katie and Lydia, two trauma specialists deeply rooted in the somatic field. Katie is a Clinical Psychologist and Somatic Facilitator, trained in working with the body through breath, yoga, and movement. Lydia is a Somatic Therapist and body-based trauma specialist, trained in Talk Therapy, Somatics, Breath, and Bodywork, with a focus on trauma, sexuality, and the female nervous system.

Between us, we’ve spent years inside somatic spaces - practising, facilitating, training, and witnessing both their incredible potential and their challenges. We’ve seen how somatic practices can unlock profound healing, but also how easily they can surface pain, shame, dissociation, and trauma when facilitators don’t yet have the tools to hold what arises.

Our shared mission is to change that. Together as friends and colleagues, we created Soluma to help practitioners, coaches, and space holders deepen their somatic literacy, really understand trauma, and grow their capacity to hold safe, ethical, and truly transformative spaces.

This Training is for you if you’re a:

  • Somatic practitioner or movement teacher.

  • Coach, mentor, or healer working in body-based modalities.

  • Breathwork facilitator, yoga teacher, or embodiment guide.

  • Mental health professional exploring somatics.

  • Space holder who wants to integrate trauma-awareness into your work.
